I’m 40-Something and I Just Don’t Get It

I’m just gonna put this out there: I am a 40-something woman and mother living in Metro Vancouver.  I’ve heard that 40 is the new 30 and  most people think I look much younger than I am, but I am starting to wonder if age is catching up with me. I am originally a small town girl, but it’s not like I just crawled out from under a rock either. So I’m not sure why there are so many trendy things happening around me that I just don’t get:

  1. vancouver mom bloggermen’s cardigans
  2. platform heels
  3. pastel hair
  4. the Kardashians
  5. tattoos
  6. Real Housewives of anywhere
  7. wearing pajamas outside the house

So, is it just me? What are the things you see from day to day that you just don’t get? Tell me so I don’t feel so alone!

  1. Hah! This cracks me up Lori! I (well and I guess Brad too for the men’s cardigan thing) do/have out of your 11 things. 😉

  2. How many of my 11 things do you have? I didn’t list any diamond in the tooth issues so you are safe on that one : )

  3. I like men’s cardigans, tattoos & piercings. I like the looks of 3-inch heels, but can’t wear them myself. I’m with you on the Kardashians & RHOV franchise, as well as the PJs outside the house. I don’t get:
    1. Wearing yoga pants as normal clothing–it feels like me wearing a cycling jersey when I’m not on my bike.
    2. How people are still wearing Uggs.
    3. Status cars.
    4. Tanning.
