It’s been one year since I was named in the Top 30 Vancouver Mom Bloggers by VancouverMom, and it has been an amazing ride.
I started my blog in September 2010 as a way of expressing myself and connecting to others during a time when I felt isolated and challenged by being the stay at home mom of a 2 year old boy. I didn’t even know about mom bloggers until a few months before that when I met blogger extraordinaire Amber Strocel. Once I read her blog and realized what was possible, I thought “I am a writer – I have to do that!”
I started writing about my personal journey of becoming a mother and everything I had been through to get there on my new blog Half Baked Banana Bread which I later renamed The Write Mama.
Becoming a Top 30 Mom Blogger has opened so many doors. I have been approached with amazing opportunities to attend VIP events and review interesting products and to share fun giveaways and contests with my readers. I met Premier Christy Clarke and Pamela Martin at the round table they held for mom bloggers and was proud to attend the ERASEBullying Summit as a special blogger correspondent.
And in the process I have met the most amazing group of women from this Top 30 group. We started a Facebook group together and it has been amazing to learn from one another, work together on blog trains, support each other’s blogs and get to know each other in person. I count these ladies as my friends and I am proud to know them.
I am incredibly thankful for this experience which was made possible by Christine Pilkington at VancouverMom.
I am happy to give back to VancouverMom by acting as an ambassador for this year’s event; the nominations for the 2013 Top 30 Mom Bloggers have been announced and you can vote for your favourites until June 10.
If you are a blogger or would like to be part of the blogging world then be sure to get your tickets for this year’s celebratory Glam event. My readers may use the code 2013friend to receive $5 off the regular ticket price.
