Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd

The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Foundation is doing just that on a grande scale – once again working with the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Coast BC  to help local children in need play baseball at Nat Bailey Stadium!

All I need is just one chance, I could hit a home run…

“It’s simple – every child should have the opportunity to play team sports,” says Jake Kerr, Co-Chairman of the VCBF. “Team sports such as baseball teach kids invaluable life lessons – how to win, how to lose, the importance of staying active – and they build self-confidence. We believe no child should be denied this experience because of reasons outside of their control.”

There isn’t anyone else like me, Maybe I’ll go down in history…

Starting on Tuesday, July 9,  six games will be played over the next several weeks in an atmosphere of collaboration and fair play. The kids, age 6-11, will be coached and mentored by local sports personalities and community figures. They will get to keep the equipment they receive (glove, bag, helmet, etc.) and will be provided with meals, transportation to and from the stadium and an inspirational talk by an elite level athlete or inspiring leader geared to promoting self esteem and leadership skills.

Let me root, root, root for the home team, Here comes fortune and fame…

“It was incredible to see how much the kids learned in both baseball and life skills last year,” says Carolyn Tuckwell, President & CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC. “We’re all looking forward to another exciting season!”

Cause I know that I’ll be the star, At the old ball game…
