The Surrey International Children’s Festival is coming up and promises to be a great family event to engage children in the arts in a fun and interactive way. We have never been but are really looking forward to attending this year’s festival!
Dates: May 21-23, 2015
Time: 9:30 AM – 2: 30 PM (Thursday & Friday); 10:30 AM – 7:30 PM (Sat)
Location: Surrey Arts Centre/Bear Creek Park (13750 88th Avenue, Surrey)
Price: Free & ticketed activities starting at $4
Tickets: Visit www.surrey.ca/childrensfestival or call 604-501-5566.
This year’s line-up ranges from preschool performances for children as young as 6 months to intermediate shows for older children, aged 9 and up. International and national performances include Music with Marnie and The Secret Life of Walter Manny from BC and Manitoba circus performers The Street Circus.
Festival goers will also have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a traditional puppet theatre performance from Vietnam’s Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theatre. This unique type of storytelling performance features ancient music, dance, and song – all on water. It sounds amazing!
The festival features a variety of free and ticketed interactive activities on site, from face painting and arts and crafts, to stilt walking and model city building! Local food vendors, roving performers and plenty of surprises are in store for visitors this year. For more information, visit www.surrey.ca/childrensfestival.
