Recently, I had the opportunity to take in an EarthBites cooking class in Vancouver with the delightful Chef Alex Tung of La Grotta Del Formaggio who is an absolute wonder with cooking pasta.
To be honest, I was a bit intimidated to attend a cooking class with a real chef but I am so glad I did. I learned so much from the watch-and-learn style class that covered recipes I can see myself making at home for a dinner party:
– Simple Pasta Dough and Simple Pomodoro Sauce,
– Spaghettoni alla Carbonara, and
– Fregola Sarda Tostada with Clams and Saffron.
That’s right, I learned how easy it is to make your own pasta dough at home. Plus lots of other great tips such as using rice bran oil for cooking at high temperatures instead of olive oil and really salting your cooking water for pasta.

Here is some of the goodness Chef Alex Tung created at the class. Oh and did I mention there were plenty of samples to go around?
