Vancouver Christmas Market – A Family Favourite

Last week, my family visited the Vancouver Christmas Market which has become one of our favourite activities to do in Metro Vancouver over the holiday season.

It’s hard to describe why the Vancouver Christmas Market –  equipped with a collection of wooden huts, a carousel, and a simple pavilion for entertainment –  is so much fun but it has this great vibe about it. When you’re there, you just feel like you’re a world away exploring a small European village.

There are some activities specifically planned for children in addition to the always popular carousel rides. For example, my seven-year- old loved decorating a gingerbread man (for a fee) and there is also a free scavenger hunt to do with the kids. But he also really enjoyed the low key experience of checking out handmade wooden toys and ornaments, and the novelty of eating a potato creation on a stick.

There are lots of food options to explore at the Market – something for everyone – from German schnitzel to Scottish shortbread to Dutch mini pancakes. Personally I adore the mulled wine (it’s totally worth the investment to bring home the souvenir mug) and the stunning selection of Christmas ornaments.
